The portal dumps you on hard, warm stone up in the mountains. The towering wall behind you hollows out into a small cave but you don't see any other way to get down. Muttering, you stand up and are face to face with a hovering creature. Another one lopes over and stares up at you, clicking it's beak.
The calico green clicks it's beak once more, then cocks it's head at you.
"Do ya think we can EAT it Shumaii?..." The creature, which you have decided to be male, askes the hoving brown.
"Of course not silly! It's three times your size! Fiir, don't scare it away..." The other, which is female, lands lightly on a small stone outcropping, and grins at you. She daintily offers you a paw, which you attempt to shake.
"Hello, I'm Shumaii and that's my mate Fiir...don't mind him, he's a bit of a joker." The female smiles at Fiir who walks over, hind feet tapping on the stone. Fiir grins at you and settles back on his haunches.
"You sure it's not edible?.." Shumaii gives Fiir a look and Fiir gives a laugh and bounces away.
"Again, I apologize for h-" Shumaii is interrupted by the arrival of two more.
The two grin up at you and each offer a paw or talon. The female is tiger striped with a small backpack strapped to her back while the male is a bit more extravagent with all clawed feet and a dragon tail. The female struts around you, inspecting your shoes curiously.
"You a traveler ain't ya? How'd you get up here?" The female pokes at you with a paw.
You giggle. "Those portals..."
The male pipes up. "Oh yeah...we ain't been here long so we forget about the portals. Plus we got wings...."
The female nods and clicks her beak. "Oh yeah, I'm Tiigra. My mate is Draagn." The four stare at you silently now, then Draagn speads his wings. "I'm hungry..."
The remaining three also get up. Shumaii bows her head to you.
"It's time for dinner, perhaps you'll visit again soon?"
You nod and the three with wings glide down out of sight while the unwinged male skitters down into the cave.
